Role: Freelance Copy Editor

Location: Remote (must be authorized and located in the US, no C2C)

Compensation: Up to $30/hr

Target Daily Output: 50–60 product descriptions per day

Variable hours; up to 40+ hours/week during peak volume

Position Overview

We are seeking a fast-paced, detail-oriented Product Copy Editor to help refine and polish e-commerce product descriptions generated by AI.

In this role, you will review AI-generated copy created from raw manufacturer product data, ensuring every description is factually accurate, clear, engaging, and perfectly aligned with our brand's voice and tone. The ideal candidate thrives in a high-volume, fast-paced environment and possesses a sharp eye for detail, nuance, and grammatical precision.

Key Responsibilities

  • AI Copy Post-Editing: Review and edit AI-generated product descriptions using provided manufacturer spec sheets and brand guidelines.
  • Brand Voice Alignment: Adapt AI output into a warm, engaging, informative, and cohesive brand tone.
  • Accuracy & Compliance: Ensure all product features, specifications, measurements, and claims are 100% accurate against manufacturer data.
  • High-Volume Execution: Maintain a steady editing pace to meet daily output goals of 50–60 product descriptions per day.
  • Quality Assurance: Fact-check product claims, catch typos/formatting errors, and optimize readability for online shoppers.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience: 2+ years of professional editing, copyediting, or content creation experience, preferably in high-volume e-commerce environments.
  • AI Familiarity: Comfort working with AI-assisted workflows or post-editing AI-generated copy.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous proofreading skills with an eye for factual consistency, grammar, and style guidelines.
  • Adaptable Workload: Ability to handle flexible hours and commit to 40+ hours per week during high-demand periods.

Nice-to-Haves / Pluses:

  • Prior experience in the pet care, pet retail, or pet-adjacent space.
  • Experience with large-scale e-commerce platforms or online catalog maintenance.
