Role: Freelance UX Strategist

Location: Remote (Must be located in and authorized to work in the US)

Rate: $55-60/hour

Clutch is looking for an experienced Freelance UX Strategist for a client of ours.

The ideal candidate is a high-level thinker who excels at bridging the gap between complex business requirements and user-centric digital experiences. You will lead the discovery and strategic phases for mid-to-large scale web projects, ensuring that every design decision is backed by data, research, and clear business objectives. If you have a proven track record of navigating large-scale enterprise website builds and enjoy the challenge of diverse client verticals, we want to hear from you.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Discovery: Lead the initial phase of web projects by conducting stakeholder interviews, competitive audits, and user research to define project goals.
  • Framework Development: Create comprehensive UX artifacts, including sitemaps, user journey maps, service blueprints, and information architecture for complex sites.
  • Platform Alignment: Guide strategies for large-scale builds primarily on WordPress and Drupal, ensuring the UX approach is technically feasible and scalable.
  • B2B & Retail Focus: Develop tailored strategies for a diverse client roster, with a heavy emphasis on B2B service providers and retail/e-commerce brands.
  • Consultative Partnership: Act as a senior advisor to clients, translating their business needs into actionable digital roadmaps that drive ROI.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with designers and developers to ensure the strategic vision is maintained from wireframes through to final deployment.

Qualifications:

  • Senior-Level Experience: Proven experience leading UX strategy for mid-to-large scale website projects, specifically those with significant budgets and complex requirements.
  • Platform Familiarity: Deep understanding of the capabilities and constraints of WordPress and Drupal environments.
  • Vertical Versatility: A "vertical agnostic" mindset with a strong portfolio showcasing successful outcomes for both B2B and Retail clients.
  • Analytical Rigor: Proficiency in using data and research to justify strategic recommendations and information architecture decisions.
  • Communication Mastery: Ability to facilitate workshops and present complex strategies to executive-level stakeholders with clarity and confidence.
  • Adaptability: Experience working in a fast-paced agency or freelance capacity, managing multiple strategic threads simultaneously.
