Clutch is looking for an experienced Director of Technology for a client of ours.

This unique leadership role is designed for a technical powerhouse who excels at the intersection of high-level engineering, strategic team management, and client-facing advocacy. As the Director of Technology, you will remain deeply hands-on, spending approximately 50% of your time writing production-ready code while dedicated the remaining time to architecting solutions, documenting workflows, and serving as the primary technical voice in client discussions.

Responsibilities:

  • Hands-on Engineering: Write high-quality, production-level code and establish the core technical standards and best practices for the engineering organization.
  • Client Leadership: Lead technical discovery and presentation sessions with clients; translate complex technical decisions into clear business value and provide transparent, accountable updates on project progress.
  • Architecture & Documentation: Partner closely with design teams to map out technical requirements, system architectures, and functional workflows.
  • Global Team Management: Direct and mentor overseas development teams, overseeing code reviews and ensuring all deliverables meet quality benchmarks and deadlines.
  • Strategic Oversight: Balance active development with high-level leadership to ensure successful project outcomes and long-term technical scalability.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 3+ years in a Director-level or equivalent leadership capacity.
  • Technical Mastery: Professional-grade proficiency (to be tested) in:
  • Languages/Frameworks: PHP, Laravel, React, and React Native.
  • Data & Infrastructure: Snowflake, PostgreSQL/SQL/MySQL, Firebase, and AWS (specifically S3).
  • Tools: Expert-level Git version control.
  • Communication: Exceptional presentation skills with a proven ability to build trust with stakeholders and explain intricate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Operational Excellence: Demonstrated success managing distributed or international teams and a strong track record of meticulous technical documentation.
  • Accountability: A "player-coach" mindset with the ability to take full ownership of project deliverables from concept to launch.
