Role: Freelance Senior Copywriter (HCP Pharma)

Location: United States (Must be located in and authorized to work in the US)

Hybrid/On-site/Remote: Remote

Hourly Rate: $50-60/hour

Clutch is looking for seasoned Freelance Senior Copywriters with a deep background in HCP Pharmaceutical Advertising for some upcoming freelance needs. We need a conceptual thinker who can translate complex clinical data into compelling, human-centric stories while navigating the rigorous regulatory landscape of healthcare marketing.

Responsibilities:

  • High-Level Conceptualization: Lead the development of creative platforms and big ideas for pharmaceutical brands, ensuring scientific accuracy meets emotional resonance.
  • Multi-Channel Execution: Write expert-level copy for a variety of mediums, including HCP-facing materials, patient education, digital/social campaigns, and sales collateral.
  • Clinical Translation: Distill complex MOA (Mechanism of Action) and clinical study data into clear, persuasive, and digestible messaging for both professional and consumer audiences.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Collaborate closely with Medical, Legal, and Regulatory (MLR) teams to ensure all content is balance-accurate and compliant with FDA/OPDP guidelines.
  • Strategic Collaboration: Partner with Art Directors and Creative Directors to ensure visual and verbal elements work in lockstep to drive brand objectives.
  • Quality Control: Manage referencing and annotations (such as Zinc or Veeva Vault) to ensure every claim is properly cited and supported.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 5–7+ years of copywriting experience within a pharmaceutical advertising agency.
  • Portfolio: A strong book showcasing high-science conceptual work and successful launches (HCP experience required).
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Deep familiarity with the MLR submission process and experience using platforms like Veeva Vault.
  • Therapeutic Range: Ability to quickly get up to speed on new therapeutic areas, from oncology and rare disease to primary care.
  • Agility: A proven track record of thriving in a fast-paced, freelance capacity—meeting tight deadlines without sacrificing creative integrity.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Life Sciences, or a related field.
