How To Stay Ontop Of Work While Traveling

It’s the summer and everyone deserves a vacation, but you’re probably thinking, “how am I going to manage my work while I travel?”. Here are five steps to enjoy vacation while staying on top of your work.

Get organized

Before you leave for your trip, get all of your projects, assignments, and other work in order. Make sure you are packing all of your tools necessary to get work done, such as your laptop, important papers, and whatever else you might need. If you have enough free time, getting some work done in advance will give you more time to relax.

Sort out technical details in advance

While you are gone on vacation, you may miss meetings and conference calls. Before you leave, make sure you plan out with your clients and your employees the amount of time you will be gone and the work you might be missing so they can fill in for you while you are away.

Research places to get Wifi

There is nothing worse than wanting to get work done but not having any access to the internet. Upon leaving for your trip, make sure you check to see if your hotel or AirBnB has wifi, and if not, then check to see if local coffee shops or work spaces offer free wifi.

Work during layovers

Layovers can be time-consuming and frustrating. To maximize your vacation time, get as much work done as you can during a layover. You may want to relax and watch a movie on your laptop, but you will thank yourself in the long run.

Check in occasionally

To make sure you aren’t missing anything important while you are out of the office, check in with your boss and employees every few days. This will show that you are committed to the job, and it will prevent you from falling behind.
